Clear answers about our experience-led questions, personally reviewed business diagnostics, the free Business Priority Check and the three paid assessment options.
How the assessment works
What is a business growth assessment?
A business growth assessment examines the current position of a business, what its owner is trying to achieve, and the factors that may be preventing progress. At Business Growth Assessment, the purpose is not to produce a score for every department. It is to identify the ONE area that appears to deserve attention first, explain the evidence behind that judgement, and recommend a practical starting point. Explore our assessment services and pricing.
How is Business Growth Assessment different from an AI-generated report or online scorecard?
It is not an instant, automatically scored or AI-generated diagnosis. Gerard Collins personally reviews the information you provide and makes a reasoned judgement about the issues most likely to constrain progress. He considers how business functions interact, tests apparent symptoms against possible causes, and distinguishes evidence from assumptions. Digital tools can assist with preparing material, but they do not replace his personal review or determine the final priority. The value is in the experience-led questions, connected analysis and human judgement — not in generating more recommendations automatically.
Why do the questions themselves matter?
A useful diagnosis depends on collecting the right information. The questions are informed by Gerard’s more than 30 years of business experience, spanning management, marketing, SEO, public relations, sales and business strategy, alongside operational and business diagnostic work. They are designed to investigate relationships between issues rather than treat each answer in isolation. For example, questions about revenue, conversion, delivery capacity and the owner’s involvement can help distinguish a lack of leads from an inability to turn existing demand into profitable work. The free check is an initial view; the paid assessments go further.
What method does Gerard use to identify the first priority?
The diagnostic sequence is Current Position → Goal → Gap → Constraint → Priority → Action. First, the review establishes what is happening now and the result the owner wants. It then examines the gap, looks for patterns, strengths, contradictions and plausible underlying constraints, and identifies the best-supported priority. The final report explains what appears to matter first, why, and what action could follow. Where the evidence is insufficient, uncertainty should be stated rather than disguised as certainty.
What kinds of business problems can the assessment investigate?
Common areas include marketing and lead generation, sales conversion, pricing, profitability, customer retention, customer journey friction, operational processes, capacity, staffing and responsibilities, management systems, owner dependency and growth planning. These are possible symptoms or contributing factors, not a predetermined list of faults. The assessment considers which relationships between them matter for the specific business.
I think I need more customers. Could something else be holding the business back?
Yes. A shortage of enquiries is one possibility, but other causes might include poor follow-up, low conversion, weak retention, unprofitable pricing, delays in delivery or insufficient capacity. Imagine a business receiving plenty of enquiries but losing opportunities because quotations are slow or the owner must approve every decision. More advertising could increase activity without resolving that constraint. This is an illustration, not a claim about any particular company.
Who is Business Growth Assessment for?
The service is intended primarily for established small-business owners, founders and operators who can see several areas requiring improvement but are unsure what should come first. It can apply to businesses selling to other businesses (B2B), consumers (B2C), or both. The assessment is delivered remotely, so owners in Ireland and internationally can use it.
The free check and paid assessments
What happens in the free Business Priority Check?
You complete eight questions in about three minutes. Gerard personally reviews your answers together and emails a personalised Business Priority Report explaining the area that appears to deserve attention first and what in your answers points to it. It is a preliminary assessment, not a full audit of the business, and there is no obligation to buy anything afterwards. Take the free Business Priority Check.
What is the difference between the €99, €249 and €449 assessments?
The €99 Business Bottleneck Audit focuses on one prominent issue and the first practical priority. The €249 Business Strategy Assessment reviews a broader picture across connected business functions to identify the main apparent constraint and key priorities. The €449 Business Growth Blueprint is the most in-depth option and provides a prioritised written 90-day direction. Each is personally reviewed, with the depth of evidence and detail increasing by package. Compare the full deliverables and purchase options.
How long will my paid business assessment take?
Delivery time starts when the completed questionnaire has been received, not when payment is made. The published turnaround targets are 2 days for the €99 Audit, 3 days for the €249 Assessment, and 5 days for the €449 Blueprint. The level of analysis and completeness of the information supplied affect what can responsibly be concluded. See the assessment options.
What happens after I pay for an assessment?
Payments are processed securely through PayPal. After a successful payment, the checkout is configured to redirect you to the appropriate online questionnaire for the assessment you purchased. Complete and submit that questionnaire so the personal review can begin. If the redirect does not appear or you close the page, email gerard@businessgrowthassessment.com with the assessment name and payment reference so the questionnaire link can be supplied. Never email payment-card details. Your receipt or statement may display You Can Series, the existing merchant account used for these purchases.
Is this a consulting programme or an automated software subscription?
Neither. Business Growth Assessment is a standalone diagnostic and prioritisation service. The assessment packages provide written findings appropriate to the depth selected; they do not include ongoing consulting, live coaching or a software subscription. You can decide whether to act on the recommendations yourself or seek specialist help where appropriate.
Experience, judgement and limitations
What if my answers do not establish a clear underlying cause?
An honest diagnostic should separate known facts from possible explanations. If the information supplied does not support a firm conclusion, the report should identify the uncertainty and any important information that still needs checking. A questionnaire-based review is not a substitute for audited financial statements, an onsite operational investigation or professional legal, HR or regulated financial advice when those are needed.
Who personally reviews my assessment?
Gerard Collins, Founder of Business Growth Assessment. He brings more than 30 years of experience across management, marketing, SEO, public relations, sales, business development and strategy, with a focus on understanding business situations and establishing priorities. Read Gerard’s founder profile and learn more about the approach. Independent published articles are also linked on the website when available.
Can an assessment guarantee growth or a particular financial result?
No. The purpose is to support more informed business decisions by identifying an evidence-based starting priority. Outcomes depend on the circumstances, the quality of information supplied, decisions taken and how actions are carried out. Business Growth Assessment does not invent client results or promise a particular revenue or profit improvement.
